Hydraulic accumulators are normally used to compensate for any oil leaks in hydraulic systems where the pressure is required to remain constant, as energy reserve, for damping pressure surges, or as volume compensator in the event of variations in temperature.

CHOOSING THE ACCUMULATOR:

When choosing the accumulator, several factors have to be considered:

• The maximum pressure stated in the technical data must never be exceeded, and to allow for possible increases in temperature, the working pressure must be about 80% of the accumulator’s maximum working pressure.
• To ensure optimal accumulator operation, the minimum working pressure should be about 10% above the accumulator pre-charge pressure.
• The volume of oil available has to be analysed for each individual case.
